About Me
Hi. My name is Jennifer and I'm originally from Martinsville, Virginia. I am a proud wife & mother of 3 children ages: 14, 16, & 27 years old. We reside in lovely Columbus, Georgia with our giant chocolate lab (Rocky) and 2 cats (Pancake & Sausage). I love helping others, which led me to my career as a counselor. My education includes a BS in Psychology from Old Dominion University, an MBA from Averett University in 2004, MAED in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech in 2008 (Let's Go Hokies!!!), and a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Capella University in 2022.

Over the last 15+ years, I have put my passion of counseling to work in multiple areas. I have been a School Counselor in the public and private school settings where I focused on academic advising, personal/social growth, and college/career planning. I also provided responsive services in the form of of individual and group counseling services, crisis intervention, and consultation/collaboration and referrals to outside agencies. I have worked as an intensive in -home counselor. And I spent the last few years in a private practice in the middle Georgia area. On a personal note, I am an autism mother with a son and a daughter on the autism spectrum. We wear our autism out loud meaning we (as a family) like to educate and advocate as much as possible.

In private practice, I am eager to help as many individuals as possible including children, children with developmental differences, adolescents, young adults, adults, families and individuals. I utilize an integrated focus with person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, play therapy, and expressive arts.
As a part of transparency and full disclosure, I share my family and our craziness as this family portrait perfectly sums up my children and their funny relationship.

Please let me know how I can help you or your family.
Jennifer
